Prague Depeche Aftershow
It feels like an awards ceremony - there are so many people we need to thank for making the trip so memorable. The main thank you of the night deserves to be the performance of David Gahan....the stadium show was totally mind blowing, apart from the timeless quality of the music- the emotional response and the love from the crowd was overwhelming. One boy next to us began to cry when a glittery Martin Gore sung an acapella version of Somebody....
As soon as we stepped off the plane we were escorted to their Radio 1 headquarters for an interview with the lovely Tvykes (on myspace!!) who, along with the photographer, Radeq from HYPE Magazine, and 'manic' Depeche Mode English fans, adopted us much to the bemusment of the hotel staff that chased us over the hotel convinced we were Russian prostitutes! (photos to follow soon) Eastern Europe is so amazing- and the boys were so fantastic - the Slovak Client Division drove 8 hours to the party fueled by client track and lyrics, in the words of Client B 'Bless'- we are looking forward to the photos!!
We were told in our last interview that our DJ set had started a revolution. In Eastern Europe DJs usually play prescriptively and were totally amazed by two Black Clad Client playing an eclectic mix of records. We opened with the Die Krupps track featuring Client B's vocals and continued on the dark, emotional and timeless theme where every track made us dance around the desk... and not only there- but between records we ran to cages on the stage and danced with the crowd...our list included Joy Division, The Normal, Talk Talk, Chaka Khan, Cabaret Voltaire, DAF, Souxie, New Order, Trash Money.... no Depeche Mode- but we didn't need to as they turned up as guests of honour behind the booth! |
